What supplement helps you remember dreams?

Vitamin B6 is the only one with real research behind it, and the effect is modest: people recall more of the night, not more meaning in it. Almost everything else sold for this has nothing behind it.

Begin with one dream

The short answer

Vitamin B6 — pyridoxine — is the only supplement with controlled trials behind it for dream recall. The studies are small, and what they measured was how much people remembered on waking: not how vivid the dreams were, not how strange, not how significant.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. B6 does not appear to change your dreams. At most it changes how much of them survives the first minute of being awake.

What the research actually measured

The trials asked people to record how much they recalled each morning. The group taking B6 recalled somewhat more. That is the whole finding. Nobody has shown that it makes dreams more meaningful, more lucid, or easier to understand.

Some people in those studies also reported sleeping worse. Remembering more of a worse night is not obviously a gain.

Dream recall is also unusually easy to move just by paying attention to it. People who start writing their dreams down recall more within days, supplement or not — which makes any single study on this harder to read than it first appears.

The one we will not recommend

Galantamine turns up in lucid-dreaming research, and it does have measurable effects. It is also a drug used in the treatment of dementia, with real contraindications and real interactions.

Sorvatis is a dream product, not a medical one, and this is where that line sits: nothing here is medical advice, and anything you swallow is a question for a doctor rather than for us.

What about the others

Melatonin, mugwort, choline, 5-HTP — these are the names that come up. None of them has good evidence for dream recall specifically.

Melatonin is the one most often recommended for this, and mostly it changes when you sleep rather than what you keep of it. A supplement that shifts sleep architecture can change what you dream and when you wake without helping any of it survive.

The thing that reliably works costs nothing

Dreams are not forgotten slowly. They are lost in the first minute of being awake, and nearly everything that helps happens inside that minute: not moving yet, not reaching for the phone, putting one word down before the day is allowed to start.

It is unglamorous, and it works better than anything you can buy.

Why it is worth remembering at all

One remembered dream is interesting. A kept sequence of them is something else — the same room returning, a person who keeps appearing, a fear that changes shape across months. None of that is visible from a single night.

That is the only reason recall matters here. Not to collect more dreams, but to be able to see what returns.

You do not need a better memory to start. One image, written down badly, is already a dream kept.
